The Chevy Suburban brings a lot to the table – literally. This large SUV has a cavernous interior and makes a great cruising vehicle. However, it’s less capable than some competitors, which is why it finishes in the middle of our class rankings. This behemoth has a strong V8 engine, but it also rides smoothly. As you might expect, maneuverability and fuel economy are weak spots, but that’s the case with most large SUVs. Towing capacity isn’t a weakness of the Suburban per se, but rivals can tow more.

You’ll likely find the Suburban’s cabin delightful. It’s spacious and has higher-quality materials than most competitors. This Chevrolet can seat up to nine and has one of the highest cargo capacities in the class. However, it’s worth noting that many other large SUVs traditionally have higher safety and predicted reliability ratings.

The GMC Yukon is a virtual clone of the Tahoe, and it offers a long-wheelbase version (the Yukon XL) that closely matches the Suburban’s gargantuan dimensions.
